Maritime Adventure - Part Seven

OK, so where did I leave you? Summerside, PEI I think.... Yup, right, we awoke to the power outage and had to eat Timbits for breaky....riiiight.

So the weather was the shits, but we took it in stride and set out towards the big ol' Confederation Bridge (with a quick stop at Gateway Village for Anne of Green Gables chocolates and chocolate covered potato chips). It was so crazy windy that they had closed the bridge to big rigs and motorhomes. It was pretty cool to see the massive whitecaps crashing out in the Atlantic while we drove relatively peacefully over the bridge. On the New Brunswich side, trucks were lined up for miles and miles down the side of the highway. Glad we were in a car!!

Heading for Nova Scotia we decided to find a new scenic route back to Halifax. I found another of those Scenic Travelways called the Glooscap Trail, that would take us around part of the Bay of Fundy. DBF agreed to this as the weather seemed to be clearing and it would probably add only about an hour to our trip.

Now let me say this.... DBF is an excellent navigator, and although I tend to think I'm not, I am pretty decent with a map and can read roadsigns as good as the next guy. But, somehow we must have missed a sign. Those travelways were always marked with roadside signs with little insignias and we followed them for the Glooscap....but after about 30 minutes of driving through farmland we knew something was up.

We landed up in a cute little farm town called Oxford (later I learned it's the blueberry capitol of NS or some bloody thing). Now this wouldn't have been a big deal....we could have found our way to the scenic route fairly easily, but we had just lost half an hour and would probably lose another half an hour....and the highway was right there.... so we opted to just hop on there and head for Halifax. Ah well.

I'm sure there was dinner this night....LOL...but I guess this is what happens when you wait so long to journal the events. (Doh, I just remembered....we had Burger King...and it was truly disgusting.) I do remember that we picked up Shooby and met up with another buddy Pete and headed out for another Power Hour at the Split Crow. Mmmmm....cheap, crappy beer. We headed for the Shoe Shop again to check out the ladies on "Cougar Row" for Shooby....and even thought about heading to Cheers later in the evening.

Cheers wouldn't let DBF in with his hat on, so we called it a night and returned to our room for some zzz's before our big trek to Cape Breton on Friday.

You lost me at chocolate covered potato chips...the rest of the post I was in a drool-inducing haze...so I reread it a couple of times...

I think Burger King is the one fast food place I don't like...
