I've mentioned before about "Because I Said So", a blog written by a mother of six with an incredibly good sense of humor and personable writing skill. I discovered her the same way most people have....when she made the news because of a hilarious eBay posting she had. The link was passed around like crazy for a few days while she was trying to offload some Pokemon cards that her kids snuck into her shopping cart.
The posting was so popular, her email box was full several times a day. People wanted to know if she had a blog...she did...and once she told people about it, her traffic took off like mad. Overnight, she went from 5-10 visitors a day to the thousands. Somewhere in the vicinity of 20-30,000 hits A DAY!
The reason for my post is because I just watched a news blurb that was aired about her on ABC. It was just a little feel-good piece about how mommy blogs have really taken off. Most of the info I already knew just from reading her blog every couple of days. But there was one thing I was surprised to hear....
Dawn makes approximately $4000 a month via the advertising on her blog!!! Holy buttload of cash Batman. Sign me up. Where do I go to get this? How do I attract 20,000 people to my blog? Apparently not by blathering on about my life waiting for DBF to return.... Maybe I need to make up some stories about having six kids and washing diapers and finding petrified hot dogs in peculiar places.
I mean, damn, there are a bazillion upstart internet businesses out there that would kill for that kind of traffic. Apparently mommy blogs are the new eBay.

But I hear you about the mommy blog thing...I get between 100 and 150 hits a day and I thought I was doing good...apparently not.
I'm currently scheming a way to work from home and would love it if my blog paid off like that! But right now I'm making about $2 a month off my ads, and that doesn't pay the bills
So if try to sell a pair of doggy-chewed undies on eBay, do you think my blog would become that popular? :)
