We started out by wandering through the corn maze, which is pretty scary on it's own. It's dark out there!!! Although, we didn't take any crazy turns or try to get lost...it was easy to navigate. Super funny to hear other people hiding out and scaring the pants off their friends though. They even have a mini haunted old town to check out, which includes the disco "Club Dead" with a werewolf DJ playing Michael Jackson's "Thriller".
After that we rode the train around the property. Now our hands were warmer, but our bums got numb. It's about a 15 minute journey....through their quite realistic old cowboy town, past the spooky graveyard and giant pirate ship, and past A LOT of cool jack-o-lanterns along the way. I think the scariest part was the nazi-conductor....when she gave the rules she sounded like a mean old school teacher. KEEP YER LIMBS IN THE TRAIN!!!
Then we headed for the big top!!! We worked ourselves up for it while standing in line. The group of girls in front of us had started screaming before they even went in the door....and kept it up once inside. We of course made Mikey go first, so Angela hugged on to him and I came close behind holding her hood. We shuffled through together, going slowly around corners and laughing at ourselves waiting for something to jump out at us. They have tons of great vignettes (how do you spell that?!!) that they've put together over the years....most with automated characters of some sort that jump or bounce or vibrate for realism. Of course, they have real people in there too....jumping out from behind dark corners or fake wall panels to scare the bejezus out of you....and others hiding in the rafters to spray you with "blood" and other creepy stuff. And lots of loud clangs, bangs, screams and noises. I learned that I laugh my ass off when presented with this kind of fear....you know, the kind of fear where you're not really totally scared and you know something is going to happen but when it does you still just about jump out of your skin! I think Angela said it best at the end.....that her ribs hurt from holding her breath the whole time. I didn't realize it, but I had done the same thing!
All in all, totally worth the $20. Boo!
