Sometimes it pays to wait around for someone to assist you.
We received a Home Depot gift card at our housewarming party, but had yet to find anything to spend it on. Originally we wanted a new light fixture for our living room, but they didn't have anything we wanted. Then we thought about putting it towards our new kitchen tap, but DBF needs to be home to install it and we keep forgetting. Finally, I had the brainstorm that we should use it for the shop vac that DBF has been talking about getting forever (of course, I had this idea because I need to vaccuum my car!).
So off to Home Depot we went today. We already knew which one we wanted. The $85 one. Don't ask me the specs. I dunno. haha.
Of course, they didn't have any. That we could see anyway. And after looking around, we could only see two associates working that department and they were both busy. We considered just forgetting about it for today and coming back next weekend, but instead we waited a bit to see if one of the guys became free to help us out. And he did.... and although the computer said that they should have a couple in stock, he couldn't find them.
So.... he offered us the display model of the next better version at the same price. Score!! Bigger, stronger, more powerful. Regular $130 bucks. Ours for $85.
Love it when that happens! :)
(Note: Home Depot is good for this if you get the right associate helping you. They are often looking to get rid of display models, and will do it for a good deal. Last year, DBF got us a brand new lawn mower for $20. Yes, $20. It was a $120 mower, but the starter cable is buggered...it still works just fine, just missing a lever...big deal. For $100 savings, I'd start it with a fork if I had to. haha.)
