Sometimes it pays to wait around for someone to assist you.
We received a Home Depot gift card at our housewarming party, but had yet to find anything to spend it on. Originally we wanted a new light fixture for our living room, but they didn't have anything we wanted. Then we thought about putting it towards our new kitchen tap, but DBF needs to be home to install it and we keep forgetting. Finally, I had the brainstorm that we should use it for the shop vac that DBF has been talking about getting forever (of course, I had this idea because I need to vaccuum my car!).
So off to Home Depot we went today. We already knew which one we wanted. The $85 one. Don't ask me the specs. I dunno. haha.
Of course, they didn't have any. That we could see anyway. And after looking around, we could only see two associates working that department and they were both busy. We considered just forgetting about it for today and coming back next weekend, but instead we waited a bit to see if one of the guys became free to help us out. And he did.... and although the computer said that they should have a couple in stock, he couldn't find them.
So.... he offered us the display model of the next better version at the same price. Score!! Bigger, stronger, more powerful. Regular $130 bucks. Ours for $85.
Love it when that happens! :)
(Note: Home Depot is good for this if you get the right associate helping you. They are often looking to get rid of display models, and will do it for a good deal. Last year, DBF got us a brand new lawn mower for $20. Yes, $20. It was a $120 mower, but the starter cable is buggered...it still works just fine, just missing a lever...big deal. For $100 savings, I'd start it with a fork if I had to. haha.)

Finally, the day has come!
Sex and the City - The Movie!Although I am waiting until next Friday to go see it because DBF has been away all week and I want to spend the evening with him. (I also despise super crowded theatres and you just know this baby is going to draw a huge mob!).
But it's sooooo exciting! I've been waiting forever. I've watched all six seasons of the show at least three times now. I just love me some neurotic, well dressed women with big attitudes and hot men. :)
So ladies, I don't want ANY spoilers!
Avoiding the commercials has been hard enough.

Random Photo of Me
This was on my camera when I uploaded my vacation pics. I can't remember why I took it. haha. I think it was just a good hair night, so I thought I would document it.
For the Love of Lulu
One of my biggest disappointments about Halifax was the lack of a LuluLemon. I mean, I joined a gym here and everything, but couldn't go buy my cute, overpriced workout wear where I wanted to. Lame! So, upon deciding to go home for a visit, a trip to Lulu was on the top of my list. Of course, while I was gone home on vacation they opened a store here. haha, Murphy's Law strikes again.
The biggest item on my shopping list was actually to get a gorgeous Lulu gym bag. I needed one that keeps the shoes separate from the clothes...because seriously, this gal's feet DO NOT smell good after a workout....and my shoes need a little venting and separation from everything else. (Besides, who wants to carry an ugly old backpack?!)
I also could stand to have a couple of pairs of Lulu undies and a good sports bra....not to mention some new capris that don't fall down when I'm running on the treadmill. (That's one of those good/bad things! Good that I've lost weight, but bad that my perfectly good pants are slightly useless now.) And I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Lulu hoodie I got in the Winter, so I was truly contemplating getting another one in a more Summery colour.
In the end, I protected my credit card and restrained myself. I tried on a slew of hoodies at both Lulu and Ococo (their organic counterpart), but I truly could not justify another $100 sweater. I didn't even bother looking at bras or undies (I really have to be in the mood for that) and I have made it this far with the crappy old capris...so decided they could wait until I get to the new store here.
I did, however, get the BAG!! and I LOVE it!! I opted for black so I know I won't get bored of it, but it still has some personality with little flowers all over....and the best part....the shiny pink interior! Cheaper than the hoodie, and about a zillion times more practical and useful. Another nice thing is that it actually has a laptop compartment, so I'll be able to use it for that the next time I travel with my computer. (don't you just love how I am justifying it as a good investment?!)

Photos are Up!
I finally found the time to get the photos off my camera today. For such a picture-happy girl, I barely took any while I was home. I guess because it didn't technically feel like a vacation.
I am sooooo happy that I got a few pics of me and my Mom, and us with my Grandpa. Our family so bad for not getting photos together, so I was determined this time. There are very few photos of my Grandma with me and my Mom (if any) later in her life, and now that she's gone we regret it...so I wasn't about to let it happen again!
So take a scroll back through my vacation recap posts and see what I've added. :)
