Money Making Scheme

It all started when to my shock and surprise we actually won $10 on the 6/49. You see, our plan is to win the lottery...big...huge even. Well, it's DBF's plan...I tend to be a little more pessimistic about these things. But I still buy the tickets!

I took half of the money and reinvested in another couple of tickets (which promptly lost of course) and stuck the other $5 in a cup on the counter. This got me to thinking that I should keep putting "found" money in that cup and see how much I can come up with by the time DBF returns from Halifax in November.

So as part of my plan to clean out the basement, I decided to start with the bottles. Let's just say that DBF's old housemates were disgusting idiots, but at least some of the crap they left can be returned for money. Of course, bottles always look like more money than they are, but I will take what I can get for my little cup-o-cash!

Next, I'll start rolling change. It's a dirty job, but somebody's gonna profit from it eventually and it might as well be me and my money making scheme. I have a whole tin full of coins and DBF has at least two mugs full under all the crap on his dresser.

After that I'll have to start getting more creative! I'm thinking yard sale, but that will require some involvement from my neighbors so we'll see where that goes. Hard to get people out here to the boonies for a yard sale!

The goal is to have enough money to do something fun when he gets back or to buy something cool that we may not otherwise bother to buy. We'll have to brainstorm on that too, but that's another blog altogether!

Any bright ideas for adding to my scheme, please post your comments!!

Haha, this is awesome! You'll have to let us know how the basement goes.

I can't wait to get home to Windsor for the summer (I'm away at school right now) and tackle my parents' garage and basement. Let's just say ... they keep everything. I think it'll take several yard sales to even fit the stuff out in the yard.

Oh, and you also need a cute jar to keep this found cash in, I'm thinking.

I'm so all about this!!!!

Ever since I was off work after my surgery, I was on short term disability - and the insurance company was less than enthused about making sure I got my cheques on time.

So I had to come up with inventive ways of making money!

My scheme of choice - not really a scheme, that sounds shady! - but I put my Ukrainian'ness to some use and spent weekends making perogies to sell (once I was well enough to come back to work part time anyways).

I sold almost $200 worth of those little guys, and although my fingers and wrists despise me (I believe carpal tunnel may be setting in!!!), I still have ppl making orders!

I'll keep doing what I have to do to support my Sephora habit, god knows it's beyond my control! lol

Another tip, if this is something you're able to do - pick up a flyer delivery route! I know, I know, you're not 12!, but in all honesty, my dh and I do one twice a week - it's a great way to get out for an hour together, get some fresh air, and it's a cool $100 per month! Not much, but it all gets socked away into my Sephora....er, I mean, our SAVINGS account....!

Good luck, and have fun!
