I can't believe it. Almost exactly a month, and I'm sick AGAIN. Maybe I'm allergic to Winter. Or maybe our new house. Or possibly Halifax in general.
Booooo. I don't get it, I'm eating well and working out...why does my body hate me?
So far, it's just a cold...cross your fingers that it doesn't become my usual sinus disaster or sore throat this time. Blowing my nose 7000 times a day is enough, thank you very much!
Why is it always right before a weekend? At least we don't have any fancy dinner plans this time....but we had hoped to get out for something fun. Maybe I'll feel better tomorrow. I hope so! I'm not letting this stop me from my new found gym routine either. Stupid timing! At least today is my scheduled day off from the gym, but I'm supposed to go tomorrow and I really want to!! And Sunday I wanted to maybe try out a yoga class, but I suppose breathing is probably a requirement for that. Waaaaaaaaa!!
OK, enough whining. I'm going to blow my nose and drink water and eat Vitamin C.

How I miss being a full-time corporate whore!
You know that my routine has definitely changed here because I JUST finished off the Starbucks card my Mom gave me for Christmas TODAY. Unreal. Almost three months for me to use up $25 worth of the Bucks goodness. It's silly really. (Of course, it should be noted that I obviously made a few trips without my card...and I wasn't using it for buying coffee beans.)Now that I'm up and going to the gym three mornings a week, my Starbucks intake will increase exponetially. Conveniently, I drive by two of them on my way home....so no more home brew coffee for me on gym days!
Now the trick will be to continue sticking with my venti mild or bold...and staying away from the yummy lattes and such. Thankfully the baked goods here aren't near as yummy or yummy-looking as the stuff back in Victoria, so I generally don't feel the need to indulge in anything from the display case.

Catching Up!
Sorry to have disappeared from this blog lately. The only thing to really report is my gym activity, which I have decided to document on my Health Blog. It is going well so far. Today was my first day trying out my routine on my own, and I'm proud to say that I did it!

Sunday, we met some other friends for breakfast at a great Greek greasy spoon (yaaaieee for the $5 breakfast!) and then hit up the Home Show for a couple of hours. Not that we need anything for our new house at the moment, but it was a fun way to kill a couple of hours for cheap. :)
OK, there. You are now pretty much caught up in the life of Bionic. I'll try to be more interesting this week. :)
In other news, the bruise on my thigh is now a gorgeous shade of purple, with some black and yellow accents. It's about 4 inches around and showing no signs of disappearing anytime soon. It doesn't hurt just to sit on it anymore, but running or bumping it into things still makes me wince a little. I know it's healing because it's ugly and it itches. Of course, scratching it only makes it hurt. Note to self: try not to fall down the stairs during the next ice storm. Ouch!
The weather has been cooperating most of this week. There was a small smattering of snow overnight on Sunday but nothing exciting...and apparently we are supposed to get the same thing tonight. Just enough to make it so we have to brush the car off in the morning, but not enough to cover the roads or anything. Yesterday was sunny and gorgeous, but still -5. Good day for walking poor Mojo, who seems to be going a little stir crazy in the house...but he's adjusting.
DBF is back to his normal schedule at work and it looks like he won't be sailing again until May. This is possibly the longest he has been on dry land in the entire time we've been together. Any bets on how long before we kill each other? haha. kidding. sorta. :) Of course, we likely won't see each other at all in May, because his sailing seems to fit exactly around the week I'm going home. Murphy's Law I tell ya. (but at least we won't need a dogsitter...)
This weekend, DBF is on duty on Sunday so I am going to take the opportunity to shop for new gym shoes and maybe a sports bra. I think I'll find a new book at the library (now that I have a few ideas) and maybe take over one of the comfy chairs at Starbucks. One of the girls suggested brunch on Sunday too, so I'll be all over that if her plans don't change.
Oh, this past weekend we went for dinner and drinks with some friends. I was excited to try out the Old Triangle Pub because I figured it was my best bet in town for Strongbow Cider on tap, but alas they didn't have it....only in a can. Booooooo! Does anywhere in this town have my favorite bevvie on tap? Their fish n chips was yummy, but their tarter sauce and coleslaw left something to be desired. DBF said their steak was really good though, he was surprised. Afterwards, we went to the Lower Deck to check out a local band. Had we known it was a cover band, we probably wouldn't have gone. It gets really crowded and uncomfortable in there...which is fine if the music is good, but it wasn't so it made me crabby. We tried going up to the Middle Deck, but that's a DJ with canned dance music and still really not our style. So we headed off to the Economy Shoe Shop, our old standby, and had a nice end to our evening.
Apparently the Deck takes pictures to post on their website regularly. I didn't want to pose, but everyone else did, so we did. DBF said he doubted they would post it, but low and behold looky what I found online today!

TV Review - Eli Stone
Have you all seen this show? If not, you should. Eli Stone is one of the best new shows I have seen in a long time. During the fall season I thought that I would fall in love with Bionicwoman or Pushing Daisies, but after a couple of episodes I lost interest in both of them. I tried to get into Dirty Sexy Money, but again, after I missed an episode I didn't care if I saw it again. Too bad really.
But Eli Stone has caught my attention. I saw the first episode purely by accident while flipping through the TV channel guide one night. I caught it again the following week, then decided to add it to my list of DVR shows and haven't missed an episode since.
I love that it's Jonny Lee Miller, as I always loved the movie Hackers as a teenager...and he's still just as odd (in a good way!) as he was then. They've rounded out the cast with strong names such as Victor Garbo and Natasha Henstridge, so hopefully this will help to give the show enough strength to stay around for a while.
The premise of the show, having Eli occassionally sing and dance around, or having momentary Broadway-type scenarios could have come off as cheesy or ridiculous (a la CopRock), but instead the show has maintained it's credibility with well written dramatic storylines and backplot and the music just adds to the quirky nature of the show's humor.
If you haven't seen it, you should. This is a good show!

New Starbucks Bevvie of the Month
The Honey Latte is supposed to be served full fat and topped with whip cream. Slight departure from their push on Skinny Lattes over the last few months. I guess the advertising for New Years Resolutions is over.
I, of course, ordered mine non-fat and without whip cream. It's still very sweet and decadent. I can't imagine adding whip to it too, but to each their own! It's pretty tasty and nice for something different, but now that I've tried it I doubt I'll order it again. I like honey in my tea, but I think I'll stick with vanilla for my lattes.
On the up side, our local Starbucks had a sign saying that Tall bevvies would be served in Grande cups today due to a supply shortage. So I expected a not-quite-full Grande cup, but instead I received a Grande latte at the price of a Tall. Nice! (Of course, I didn't really want all those extra calories so I stopped drinking it 2/3 of the way through, but it was still a nice surprise!)
